It's hard to describe what Vegemite tastes like. It's a sandwich thing. Mainly toast.
It's kind of bitter and salty, but it's really nice.

The problem that Americans have with it, and I'd be guilty of this of trick, is that you think it's a chocolate and just lob a shitload onto the toast. Which is the worst thing you can do, because that'd just taste awful.
The desired amount is basically just like it is in the photo.

And yeah, it's strictly an Australian thing. But if you have an import shop nearby, Wiki says you can get it from there.
I don't know why it's strictly Australian, though. Kraft bought Vegemite ages ago.

Yeah, Vegemite is pretty bitter and salty. It's a taste that you have to get used to. As a kid i didn't like Vegemite, and now I sometimes find myself having random cravings for it. It's got a really unique taste that you probably wouldn't find anywhere else.

Seconding what Johnny Stooge said, don't put too much on or it will taste foul! A while back my dad had someone from America come over for work, and he thought it was like chocolate. It didn't end very well xD

But yeah! Vegemite is bitter, salty, delicious, and not chocolate-related in any way. It's also great on toast :3

Not all of us are quite that Austrailian. I wouldn't mind trying the stuff though.
