The False Rape Society: One of the more chilling wrongful rape claims in recent times: the woman who sent a man to prison for five years because she was bored

Next. Father's rights are more true than your other statements, but not unheard of. When all is fair and balanced, the mother typically is favored, because mothers are usually caretakers. However, if there are extraneous factors affecting the mother's ability to care for the child, or if the father is more capable of doing so, you might be very surprised at the number of times the father is given majority custody, or better. You are mentioning a long-held stereotype, that in this day and age really adds up to not much more than a myth, and a few isolated incidents.

Next. A man DOES have the legal right to say no to child support, for a baby he does not want. Giving credit to someone else here, I can't remember the user, but within a period of time from conception, the father has the right to deny any claims, rights, or responsibilities toward a child conceived out of wedlock. This is regardless of the mother's choice to abort or not, essentially male abortion. If you're married, though, you're fucked. Deal with it.
A man is able to avoid child support, as long as he has shown no signs of assisting the woman in any way with the pregnancy or child care. He goes to the baby shower? Help out with something? Court forces him to pay. Regardless if he's the biological father or not.

And some links (yes, some go to Men's Rights pages. They are relevant to different issues):

There are far more women who have their lives ruined by rape than men (this includes false accusations). From: Statistics | RAINN | Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network

- One in 6 women will be sexually assaulted.
- 60% of sexual assaults are not reported.
- Only 6% of rapists will ever spend a day in jail.

Sounds like some power to me.

Never said that men get ruined more by it all. Women historically are more likely to be raped than men, usually due to physical and social differences. Going back to devil's advocate, potentially 9% of reported rape accusations turn out to be false.

Either case, the numbers are too high. One side, a woman can get scarred for life from such an event. On the other, a man can be ruined socially and financially for life.

Which leads me to something that's not quite fitting for this topics, per se, but the sex offender list is screwed up and screws over anyone who gets put on it. Get drunk and decide to pee in public? Get caught, you are now charged with public intoxication and public indecency. You are now added to sex offenders list (depending on state). Many states give no info about what you actually committed, among other things, so now you're lumped alongside rapists and the like. And it seems anyone who sees you as on the list assumes you're a pedophile. Buut this deserves its own topic, not restricted to women's/men's rights, so I'll stop that.

I agreed that there are instances where women tend to have more power in those areas, but they're not widespread enough to spark a big issue, globally or locally. As I said before, if something makes the news, it is because it is a strange, uncommon circumstance that actually warrants being newsworthy. When the law works, it isn't going to be dramatized, it will be, for the most part, quiet and mostly unknown. Yes, men do get screwed over once in a while, and the legal system certainly is not perfect, but I can tell you from experience (not my own, but a friend of mine) that just because a woman cries rape does not mean the man will be instantly convicted, which based on the wording, was what Killa Dex was claiming.

To be a little more specific, he and she both were slightly intoxicated, but not to the point of delirium. The two of them had sex, and when her friends found out she slept with some random guy at a party, they started to poke fun at her. She tries to claim she didn't want it, and calls her father the next morning. He is a wealthy guy. They try to claim rape, but after consulting a lawyer learn that it would never fly in court, so they tried to claim it was rape under alcoholic duress. I don't know the exact terminology, but I thought that might be clear enough to understand what I meant. The rape kit was performed, showing no signs of rape, struggle, or a forced encounter. After interviewing my friend, they learned he had no history of sexual crimes, assault, or extortion; that sort of thing.

Despite her claiming she was raped, claiming she was drunk beyond comprehension, her father having money to throw around, and him being a young black male her a college age white girl, the police threw out the case before it even went to court. So I'd have to say, the system works, if applied correctly.

As for the other, yes, I admitted that the mother tends to get the child. However, if we're going on just what is in the news, type in "Father wins custody battle" in google, and there are ample results to show that a father CAN win a custody battle. Usually, however, they don't really fight it, because the mother is the natural caretaker anyway, and father's are usually not as attached to their children. However, a father who truly does want to keep his kids, and makes more money than the mother, can quite easily win a custody battle, or at the very less get shared custody of the children.

It isn't as unheard of as you might think.

I'm not here to argue that women have no power, and men are just the tyrants of the world, but I AM completely against spreading misinformation, and information that just simply is NOT true. That is how these stereotypes begin.

So my head's up my ass because America loves to project itself as the land of the free? I wish you would stop misreading my comments and then responding with hot headed, knee jerk reactions.
You've heard of the American Dream, right? That ideal where an immigrant can go to America with nothing and build themselves up to something because everyone is free and equal in America. That's what I was referring to.

That wasn't an 'Australia vs America' slant. It was 'the dream vs the reality'.

And I wish you'd stop acting like this isn't a trend with you, as if this is the first and only time you've ever taken a swipe at the United States based on misinformation, ethnocentrism and flat out stupidity. We get it. YOU DON'T LIKE AMERICA. This requires no further reinforcement from you. Stop trying to combat American arrogance by behaving like an arrogant little shit. You are not winning anybody over. And if gender inequality is what you have an issue with then look inward, because your country is right on par with America.

Or you could stop whining about the western world altogether and take a look at countries like India, where upward mobility is literally nonexistent.

Even as unabashed an American I am, I can admit that America has played the bully through much of recent history, so it's understandable that there is a stigma against us. Though, even on the list of world powers, we're miles ahead of China and much of Europe.

Haha, I wouldn't dare claim we are economically better off than China. We owe them more money than our yearly government revenue, last I heard. XD

Certain policies like the ones you mentioned should be modified slightly to ensure equal treatment in terms of the law; I agree with that. But womens' rights do not need to be changed, women deserve every right men do.

I don't think anyone here is claiming that in most "forward thinking" countries women are subjugated by the law. It's in practice that the equality becomes skewed. Complete and total equality in every single area of observation is quite literally impossible, however that doesn't mean we shouldn't keep trying.

So can I. Definitely. It's dishonest to pretend otherwise. I agree with everything in your post. But I've spent a decade now, listening to these snide eurotrash armchair intellectual cocksuckers bashing the United States. And honestly, for the greater part of that decade I was on their side. But now, that bashing has become trendy and lost its meaning. I'm done putting up with it.

Btw, still on the subject of income inequality between genders, everybody take a look at this chart:

oecdwomen.jpg

Worldwide, on average, women make about 17.6% less than men do. In America, women make about 19% less than men do. Boo fcuking hoo. America is an exceptional country, and I know that we can and should do better. This being said, my faith in our democracy is not exactly shattered by these numbers. Especially not when we're beating Japan, Canada and the United Kingdom while simultaneously getting our ass handed to us by Greece and Belgium. Both countries, by the way, that consistently rank substantially lower than we do in civil liberties.

I harbour no anti-American sentiments. To my recollection the only discussion we've had were you could have inferred this is the gun control topics, in which case you're exaggerating. I don't like guns and I don't like Americans apparent obsession with guns. That's it.

Stop trying to combat American arrogance by behaving like an arrogant little shit.
So you've noticed you're being overly defensive like an arrogant little shit, yes?

And if gender inequality is what you have an issue with then look inward, because your country is right on par with America.

That's stupid. Why would I focus on India when inequality is still an issue that exists in the western world? I believe in leading by example. Not telling others to 'do as I say, not as I do'.

Does Australia have inequality issues? Of course it does and I fully acknowledge that. I know people are addressing them, it's just a matter of the government doing something about it. I know Julia Gillard does want to, but her government dangles on a knife's edge so unfortunately things are taking longer than they excusably should.

However part of these inequality issues are caused by Big Business and I don't think Big Business has such a hold on Australia as it appears to have on America.

I'm sure you heard MY opinion on that, so no doubt I've simply fueled your fire.

That isn't exactly fair. Find 100 Americans who truly believe we should be "leading the world" and I'll concede to you, but as it stands, none of us ever asked to be an example, or to lead. We're just over here trying to live our lives like everyone else. Hell, half the country doesn't even know what goes on globally, because they don't think it affects them, and lets not pretend we're the only ones who do that, because we are both adults here.

However part of these inequality issues are caused by Big Business and I don't think Big Business has such a hold on Australia as it appears to have on America.

Now, I won't pretend to know a hell of a lot about politics in Australia, but I will say this. America gets bashed a lot by most other "world powers" because our approach to "Big Business", but I honestly hate that term. Socialism works for them? That is wonderful. However, let's not forget what made America what it is today. That would be "Big Business". Our grandparents and great-grandparents revolutionized the modern idea of the corporate business structure, and if it weren't for that, the world would be a very different place. For better or worse? Who knows, but it certainly worked for us, and as far as I'm seeing, it still works, they've just attempted to make it evolve, and that was an utter failure.

Big Business also gave/gives a big finger to several groups. Look at coal companies. They continue to give the finger to people where I live. And big business, at least here, doesn't like to give out worker's rights. It took regulation and unions to tack that on. A corporate state is not an ideal system. But that's a separate topic.

True, I'd completely forgotten the topic there. XD

Though, to bring it back around, I'll admit that larger businesses are the bulk of the issue when it comes to gender inequality. Not to say women can't succeed there, but it is definitely true that a stigma still exists, and nowhere is it more true than in the corporate world. We've made big strides in racial equality there, but there are so many jobs that women can't, or don't, do. A lot of those tend to be some of the highest paying jobs. I had a female friend who wanted to become a paratrooper in the Air Force, but that is a male only job, because women "don't have the physical strength or stamina to do the job".
