Re: Worlds of Kingdom Hearts - What worlds do you want to see in KH3?
While I'm not usually one to fantasize how a world would fit in or its story, I think a world based on The Black Cauldron would be great. Since Aqua is still in the Realm of Darkness, I would 1) like Sora & company have to go to the RoD and grab her and NOT have Aqua come out of some bright door, and 2) not just have it be a quick fetch quest. I'd love it if Sora went to the RoD and found Aqua in the middle of helping Taran with his adventure in a world that was (for some reason) still stuck in the RoD. The movie has a darker feel anyway, and placing it in the RoD and having it play a part in the larger story would be awesome.
I personally dislike the idea a lot for purely logical reasons. The Realm of Darkness is supposed to be devoid of any life besides creatures of the Darkness. That is why it is so dangerous for beings from the Realm of Light to traverse in the Darkness. It, for a lack of better terms, will literally eat you alive until you turn Dark yourself.
The worlds that landed in the RoD were virtually empty, its residents spread across the universe in other worlds or lost to the Darkness altogether. Some were suspended in animation until they were revived again. Some worlds that were extremely unlucky fell to Sleep doomed to dream the past over and over again until they were either saved or faded away into nothing.
The Realm of Darkness isn't habitable at all and that is why it is so amazing Aqua has been able to survive in it for years.
If the Black Cauldron world happened to be in the RoD, it couldn't have been in it long and would have taken a very powerful being (the Horned King) to have transported it there without completely destroying the world and filling it with Heartless.
-The world and setting itself is very unique, mostly centered around snow, ice, and a wintery feel. Nomura is constantly looking to diversify the KH worlds in each game, and as far as I can recall, no other Disney property has that cold-winter feeling (save for the planet Hoth for Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back).
There was that one specific part of the Land of the Dragons that was snow. That doesn't count, though. It was bland and only a hilltop. And Christmas Town...
which i only remembered thanks to chaser
-The character of Olaf could further reinforce the concept of everything and anything having a heart.
Yes! This I like!
-The snow and ice in the film is just drop dead gorgeous and would be a good way to show off the next generation's power (which Nomura loves to do).
Nomura would go crazy with it, I'm sure. Poor Nozue and the programmers would probably be put through a hell of a time trying to comply with Nomura's wishes xD
-This movie centers heavily on family ties, and combining this with certain other "family-centered" movies (The Incredibles, Lilo & Stitch), this might actually force Sora to acknowledge that he does indeed have a family.
No it won't. The film emphasizes familial relations, but above all it is about how love can take many different forms. Kristoff whose "family" is a
group of omniscient Trolls who love him unconditionally (even if he is a bit of a Fixer-Upper), true sisterly love,
false love (Hans & Anna), romantic love (Anna & Kristoff), and the love of friends (Olaf & Anna, Kristoff & Sven, dat stuff.)
Sora would enhance the friendship side of things considering his all-encompassing love is that of platonic love between friends. Sora's personal power is the ability to create strong bongs between others. Also, he knows just as well as Anna what it is like to chase after somebody close. Anna & Elsa's journey mirrors Sora & Riku's a lot. Riku felt he had become a monster and was going to stay out of Sora's life while protecting him from the shadows. Sora was doing all he could to chase after Riku to try and bring him home.
They don't need Sora to address his family. He's got a shitton of friends to talk about.
-One of the things that I didn't like about the movie was that there was no direct villain to focus on throughout the movie. While this didn't destroy the film, it might hurt Frozen's story in KH3 and leave the player feeling a bit lost.
It's a good thing Kingdom Hearts never follows close to the films, then rofl. The story in KH3 will be pretty different from the film, probably retaining some key aspects (Elsa's magic issue, Anna chasing after Elsa,
the whole part where Elsa hits Anna's heart with her magic and they have to fix it with true love) but they can always add in a villain or
buff up the one they had to be more useful.
-Based on the two teasers we've received so far, KH3 looks to be epic and placed on a large scale (especially the battles). While there are many great things to be found in Frozen, there was nothing in the movie that screams epic or large scale. The film Frozen is more deep than large, if that makes sense?
That's because they skimmed over most of the mountain climbing. I don't have the artbook yet, but apparently there are a lot of visuals that show off tall mountains, frozen waterfalls...and they can always make up some areas to make up for it like they did in Agrabah, Atlantica, Port Royal, the Grid...pretty much every world in KH thus far.
I imagine our "big" areas will be within the city & castle, Elsa's ice castle, the side of the mountain Anna & Kristoff fall off of...and pretty much all of the forest they sled through...
-If I understand the KH story correctly, the Princesses of Heart are going to play a pretty important role in KH3, and adding two more characters with the titles of princesses (one of them technically queen) might confuse the player and muddle up the plot. I don't think it would confuse anyone here on the site, but to those who will only play Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 it might be confusing. It may be better to save Frozen for when the PoH are not as prominent.
They might, they might not. They had non-PoH "princess" characters in KH1. If people get confused over the seven PoH that will probably be listed out by Yen Sid, Sora, or some other character for story convenience, then I worry about their comprehension skills.
-Based on previous games, not too many worlds based on movies released closely to each other have been released together in the same game. Having Frozen in KH3 I think would hurt the chances of other movies released around the same time as Frozen (Tangled, Wreck-It-Ralph, Big Hero 6, etc.) from showing up in KH3, many of which have a strong KH fan base as well.
Eh...there are too many factors that go into world selection that we aren't privy to, so we don't really know what the chances really are for each of these films. Nomura usually picks stuff he wants to see (with staff input), takes in fan input if he desires to, then Disney puts their suggestions on the table as well then they pick.
Frozen may or may not reduce the chances, but if Nomura has a good reason for having certain worlds I really doubt the release date matters. They try to keep things diverse, though, but they aren't always. BBS was extremely pre-1960 with the exception of two worlds. KH2 was more Renaissance to post-Renaissance Disney. If they go Revival Disney with KH3, it wouldn't be a shocker...though I think we want them to be mixed like KH1 & KH3D was.
-While I do love *spoilers* as the ending villain, it seems like a boring boss fight, and I'm not too keen on having the big boss fight of a Frozen world being either a Heartless/Nobody/Unversed/Nightmare fight just shoved in there (a.k.a. Aqua's boss fight in the Castle of Dreams) or a KH original boss (and thus having nothing really to do with the Frozen plot).
He could ride something like Clayton did. That was a hard battle, too. Hans is clever, so if they bulked up his story a bit, they could probably mold him into a good boss. Also, if they wanted a KH character to be a boss, they would inject them into the story like how Xaldin was worked into the plot with the Beast. Young Xehanort or some other Darkness could be manipulating Elsa, convincing her that she is a monster. Or they could influence Hans. They have a lot to work with, honestly
(Also, I think Nomura isn't above putting in a bunch of movies released around the same time in the same game. It may not seem like it, but it hasn't been as spread out as it looks. Also keep in mind they're releasing movies a lot faster these days.)
Agreed. He is not above it. He'd shamelessly do it if he wanted to and was allowed by Disney. This is the man who wanted to turn FFXV into a musical after watching Les Miserables (this was told as a joke, but he probably did seriously consider it for a few seconds)
