I couldn't be happier that Shovel Knight is going to be in this game. Playing this is going to be such a treat.

I''ve always been indifferent to these sorts of physical releases, but good to see they're doing what it seems like the fan base wants. I'll likely still get it digitally as I do with a lot of games now, but the option is nice. More casual crowds seem to take a game more seriously once it has a physical copy, so I'm sure it'll boost sales. One of the best things they did about this was give backers the option to upgrade their donation so that they may receive a physical copy in place of their digital. Seemingly a good move all around.

A small update, but the Wii U version is cancelled (posted in another thread) and the game is set to release Q2 (April) 2017 instead of Q1. Hopefully a public demo is given beforehand.

Inevitably, some people are livid over this. On the one hand, I can understand why. A lot of people invested in this for their Nintendo platform. But on the other hand, The Wii U is deader than disco. Switch it to the Switch I say. Smart move PlayTonic. Not an easy move but a logical one nevertheless.

Rightfully so in my opinion. The WiiU is going to be as close to culturally and marketably irrelevant as a fairly modern console can get. I totally understand why they want to put it on Switch. It'll sell way more and allow them to get their feet wet with the new console.

While I understand why they didn't want to put it on the Wiiu anymore. But....Im sad that I won't be able to afford a Switch for a while.

Only watched about a minute and a half and man I know I'm going to be failing a lot with the platforming (I suck at it). Really takes me back to Rayman 2.

I don't like that the few NPCs there are don't even try to fit in with the world they're in. Take the pig knight guy for example, he's just standing in a seemingly random corner with little rhyme or reason for being there. He's in a casino, he should be like at a blackjack table wearing tacky tourist clothes over his chainmail or something.

Well, the outcome of this game has been... interesting to say the least.

Yeah the reviews are a bit disheartening, but for a game that's all about going back to the style and form of the old school platformers, some of the complaints about it leave me a bit confused.

Of course, reviewers aren't everything. They are helpful for when you're on the fence about the game and you want insight into certain things, but for Yooka-Laylee I'm just hoping it gives me a fun-to-play game.

I've been watching the game on twitch and looks fine to me. I noticed some graphical flaws, but the game looks like it runs ok. Critics says the PS4 version runs fine. Too bad this game isn't running at 60fps...

The game runs just fine on PS4, it actually surprised me. Unity is usually a big miss with things like frame rate.

I've had a couple dropped frames, not during critical moments though. My main gripe is the level design. They're just sprawling and confusing. I'm enjoying the game, but these levels, along with the artificial difficulty, take away from the experience. And by artificial difficulty I mean the bosses that aren't difficult, just time consuming or not worth the hassle. I've only done two bosses (Rampy and the ice one) and Rampy was frustrating because, for the longest time, I thought jump was disabled during the fight. Instead, you just can't be moving when you jump, otherwise you don't jump over the logs. And the ice one was just unnecessarily long. Let's hope the other bosses are better.

I think the center critique of the game is that it's just a simple return to the platforming of the 90s; that it isn't delivering anything new on the platter, 'cept some few things it does unique.

To be honest, it isn't my cup of tea, but hey, at least it didn't end up as a disappointment like the Mighty No. 9...

That's the thing - I'm hoping that the lower than intended reviews give developers more understanding of what fans of the genre want. I've yet to play the game, but if it's still good, then I hope they make the money they needed from it, and in future, they can make a game that will smash everything.

So I'm finding myself to be addicted to this game. I know I had my gripes, but the more I play it, the more it totally reminds me of Banjo, which was my favorite game on the N64. It even caused me to take a break from BBS on 1.5+2.5. I think I fell for the nostalgia trap. -_- But it's totally worth it.:D
