A vile pervert who raped, tortured and slowly murdered his 12-year-old niece because he was obsessed with snuff movies was locked up for the rest of his life yesterday.

John Maden, 38, downloaded internet instructions on how to inflict the maximum amount of pain on children - while keeping them alive for as long as possible to prolong suffering.

After luring little Tia Rigg to his home by asking her to babysit his ten-year-old daughter, he drugged her, carried out sickening sexual assaults, repeatedly knifed her in the stomach and strangled her with a guitar string.

Maden then calmly dialled 999 and confessed, saying: "I've just finished killing her now." When the appalled operator asked why he had done it, he replied: "Because I felt like it."

Yesterday Mr Justice Brian Keith ranked paedophile Maden alongside Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe and Moors Murderer Ian Brady - depraved killers too dangerous ever to be released.

He said: "This is one of those exceptional cases in which the only just punishment requires you to be imprisoned for the rest of your life. Early release provisions should not apply."

When police arrived at Maden's home after the 999 call they found Tia, daughter of his sister, dead in a spare bedroom.

She was naked apart from socks and her hands were tied behind her back.

There was a guitar string around her neck and two blood-stained knives nearby. She had been raped with an object.

Officers also found a repulsive library of snuff movies featuring killings, rape, child porn and extreme sexual violence.

Jobless Maden had also downloaded internet documents with titles such as "belly stabbing" and "throat crush" - which made up a sickening guide to child murder.

Prosecutor Gordon Cole QC said: "These files describe stabbing a child in the stomach so as to prolong the time it takes the person so stabbed to die."

The documents also recommended giving victims medication to prevent them "losing consciousness until the final second of life".

Tests showed Tia had been drugged with tablets prescribed for Maden after he told his GP he suffered "psychotic episodes". Mr Justice Keith said the internet texts were the "most chilling" aspect of a deeply disturbing crime.

He added: "You acquired material about how to kill children, inflicting the greatest amount of pain and making their agony last as long as possible.

"It is inescapable that Tia Rigg died because you decided to realise your fantasies about torturing and killing a young child.

"The terror she must have experienced, the unimaginable pain you inflicted on her, the indignities you subjected her to all made your crime of the utmost gravity.

"All you wanted to do was to act out your sadistic sexual fantasies. It was planned, it was pre-meditated and her agony must have been prolonged."

Divorced dad-of-one Maden, who had 2,000 porn images, had visited Tia at his sister Lynne Rigg's home the day before the murder and invited the youngster to come and see his dog.

The following day he phoned Lynne and asked her to send Tia to babysit. About 45 minutes later Maden, who admitted rape and murder, dialled 999 and coolly explained what he had done.

Heartbroken Lynne, in a statement released after sentence was passed at Manchester Crown Court, said: "Tia was my baby girl. She was always happy and never sad. She brought a smile to everyone who she met.

"Tia wasn't just my daughter she was my best friend. When this nightmare happened it killed me inside.

"My heart has been broken and will never mend.But now justice has been done at least Tia can rest in peace."

Tia's aunt Susan added: "The family will never be able to understand or come to terms with what has happened to Tia."

I agree. But the problem is that a large number of these sites are hidden extremely well. It's rare that the cops not only find the site but also find where it originates from. They just happen to take the easier route and try to fight piracy.

But that whole Manchester part gets confusing for me. I live just an hour away from a city called Manchester that has a good amount of crime. I never really know for certain if it's the one I live near or another one.

Well, it depends on which server you find this information. If it's out of say, Britain or American's jurisdiction, then the cops can't do nothing, no matter what. The only other way is to block these sites, but that falls under censorship.

It's a shame that you cannot get rid of these websites easily, yet blocking them for view is a breach of our rights and would set website like 4chan off. You will never find these site taken away or blocked.

Back in the Victorian times, one woman was considered a serial killer, as she killed one baby after one by strangling them with a piece of string. She wraps them up in some paper, attach a brick and throw it in the pond. Apparently she didn't like the cries of the babies.

Another one, parent of her child [they have multiple children, so I assume they killed them], a young girl was tortured alive by her parents whilst the song 'drummer boy' was playing. It was recorded and it was a haunting video. The girl begged for her life, but her parents kept on torturing her as that song played.

Honestly, this seems like meres childplay to the others serial murder case I saw that's involved with children.

well that may have contributed to his sickness, but can you say he would have been this collected had he not watched the dozens of videos of kids being killed, or had he not seen the thousands of images he allegedly had?
