^ I remember Mickey saying Riku handles darkness like never seen before. I'm not sure about Xehanort but I do remember him saying DDD that Riku was "resistant" to it now.
*just randomly adds two cents to other people's conversation and leaves*
Ah, its probably Mickey then. I was misremembering. YX did say to Riku that he doesn't know how he did it but that Riku had found a way to trap darkness inside his heart. Though I don't think he's trapped it, he's found a way to use it without being corrupted.
That would be an idea. What if MX's keyblade is the embodiment of darkness? That would be why it is the oldest keyblade, it corrupted the sixth foreteller who started the keyblade war and it has been passed down to current day xehanort. Every user who wields it is influenced by an ancient evil who wants the x-blade to control kingdom hearts, but why?
an alternative ending would be, sora wielding it and becoming corrupted, riku then wields the x-blade while fighting off it's powerful seduction and rescues sora with it. Or sora pulls a Sam Winchester and sacrifices himself permanently by gaining control and helping riku win within his heart, in which sora would save everybody like has been talked about and riku could become the new protagonist.
I really hope there isn't an ancient evil behind all this... Don't make the story even more complicated then it already is! Though, I could see it going that way, especially with Chi around. They're telling that story for a reason.
I think Sora would be too full of light to be able to wield the X-blade. Isn't it a heart of light and a heart of darkness needed to forge it? Wouldn't a balanced heart, one capable of controlling light and dark needed to wield it? Maybe it corrupts you if you are not balanced between light and dark... Maybe that could be Xehanort's undoing... He seeks the X-blade, hoping he can wield it but it burns him because he isn't balanced, so therefore cannot wield it.
