Interesting move, considering disney rubbished it's own games back in 2015, I hope they're committed to this properly because that was a really short sighted decision from them

While we don't have an Idea on which Disney worlds we will be getting for the next KH game, the Limit Cut episode for ReMind will have The Fairy Godmother going into the dreams of Riku to find traces of Sora with Kairi and the nameless stargirl aka Sora (Yozora's girl) involved. So the Sleeping Worlds or whichever realm that Riku, Kairi and Sora will go to visit the worlds will be the focus of the next KH game.
So, I'll pick three Disney worlds that are the easiest to be in the next KH game.

Coco: I made a lot of posts relating to Coco on this thread before and why is this one of my most wanted Pixar films to become a world in a Kingdom Hearts game. The film has themes such as familial responsibility, death, loss, friendship, and remembrance do suit the themes found in the Kingdom Hearts series and for the new Kingdom Hearts game. I envision that the original story and the first for a Pixar-based world is that it could be a prequel to the original movie where Sora, Riku or Kairi (i pick the former) end up in the Land of the Dead and encounters Héctor who also wants to cross the Mairgold bridge to reach Coco, which can also tie into Sora's character development. The alebrijes could be another important story plot connection for the world cause in the original film they are meant to be spirit guides to their owners and their families such as Dante and Pepita. What if there were alebrijes that became corrupted and turns itself into a Heartless or Nightmare Dream Eater and actually do the opposite? I could so imagine the world culminated with either a Heartless or Dream Eater boss based on the Mexican deity, Quetzalcoatl with Sora riding on Pepita and battling the boss in the vein of Sora riding on Baymax and the Magic Carpet. I'm very excited on how Pixar and Square Enix will come up with the new story for a world based on Coco. Plus, Jason Katz who worked on the Toy Story movies and was one of the consultants with the Toy Story world in Kingdom Hearts III also worked on Coco, even Jason, Adrian Molina and some of the people who worked on the movie could serve as consultants giving notes to the Nomura and his team regarding the design for the Coco level including the enemies for the world. Coco definitely screams Kingdom Hearts level from both the environment, the story, the alebrijes and potential boss, so I'm very excited to see Square recreate it as a level. Also Miguel commented that the Land of the Dead felt like "something out of a dream".

Potential Heartless or Dream Eater Boss:

Inside Out: Everyone expresses doubt regarding how the film will be incorporated in the KH series, but in portions of the film they do focus on emotions and dreams which could be a useful plot device for the next KH game. While it is unlikely we will be going inside Riley's mind we can still have Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear and Anger reside in either Sora, Kairi, Subject X's mind and have Sora, Riku and/or Kairi interact with the emotions and do an original story from here cause at the end of the film we got so many different emotions residing in the minds of the other characters besides Riley and her Parents.

Lastly, their are also the Personality islands featured in the film, that make up someone's personality and as a nod to the original movie, the islands can still feature the same ones (Goofball Island, Friendship Island) but with new original Islands created specifically for Sora, Kairi and Subject X.

Princess and the Frog and/or Moana: I had a choice between one or the other, But I'd see Princess and the Frog and/or Moana (or both of them) could work as worlds for the next game. For Princess and the Frog, well it's hard to determine how the world fits in, but the setting and Tiana's persistence on reaching her dream do seem Ideal for a world for the next game, along with the Bayou and awesome villain in Dr Facilier I'd be down for it to appear in the game. For Moana, Moana's journey on restoring the Heart of Te Fiti and the Islands decaying/dying due to Maui taking the Heart, do somewhat mirror the first KH game when Sora goes on his Journey to fight the darkness, plus I could see some fun bonding moments and interactions between Moana and Kairi (or Sora). If I had to choose between Princess and the Frog or Moana, tough choice to choose but I'd be surprised if Moana would end up being a world in the next KH game instead of KHIV, with Princess and the Frog appearing for KHIV instead.[/spoilers]

I don't see the negativity in this? Agree to disagree, but I don't think Disney is going to just disregard the 2D films for their future games. I still could see Princess and the Frog in KHIV and more than likely a return to Agrabah for either an original story or to adapt the events of the Third film (King of Thieves). On top of that, I could see Treasure Planet and Atlantis making their debut in a KH game before KHIV.

I have to agree, the cgi films honestly don’t excite me as being worlds as much as 2D properties do. There’s so much Disney to use, would love older stuff getting in.

- I was so happy about Frozen and hope/expect it to reappear in several more games (and for the protagonists to actually be party members next time).
- I would love TP&TF. It's not CGI, but it's a part of Disney's Revival Era.
- Moana would be perfect for KH with darkness taking over her world because its heart is in danger--similar to how worlds would be destroyed if their hearts weren't locked by the Keyblade in KH1. And it would give us another water world (and I love those)!
- Then there's Zootopia. I don't love the whole thing, but I do love Nick and Judy. It'll be really fun to run around with them as your party members and their dialogue with SDG.
- Wreck-It Ralph could have fun minigames--pending how they turn out. Vanellope's a fun character and Sugar Rush would be really fun as a level. Surely we'd get to fight the Turbo Cybug monster.

Plus, I have hopes Raya and the Last Dragon will at least be as good as Moana. The story sounds interesting and Awkwafina's amazing. I'm not as crazy about PIXAR, but Inside Out and the other Toy Story films would be really fun. Coco would have interesting environments to explore.

Haha, yeah, I certainly try to get the excitement going for myself regardless, new KH games are always exciting.

That would be interesting concept you made and I love your idea. I have yet to see the film myself so I don't want to know any spoilers, but knowing how the Toy Story and Monster's Inc. worlds in KH3, it's likely this will have an original story set after the events of the film. One possibility is that I could see elements drawn from Tales of the Manticore story for the potential original KH story for the Onward world.



Also, while ago I made a post regarding how for a planned Onward world is what if it could become KH's answer to FFXV?

Think about it, The City (New Mushroomton), the landscape and the Brother's van (Guinevere) do seem to be ideal for a FFXV style Open World exploration in KHIV, Just imagine having Ian and Barley as party members for Sora and the gang and the locations they go to either by walking or driving Guinevere, this screams FFXV.

I'd also imagine Sora, Donald and Goofy being transformed for this world with Sora as an Elf (much like Ian and Barley), Goofy as a troll (using his Monster's Inc. design but wearing pants this time) and Donald as a Cyclops again (retaining his Monster's Inc. look minus tendrils and horn on his tail). lol

@Zettaflare You do have a point, when Young Xehanort created a copy version of Toy Box it caused a lot of strange things anomalies happening for Andy's Toys not only were they in an alternate version of their world but also made Buzz Lightyear's laser into an actual laser instead of a lightbulb that blinks.

As far goes as the Great Before world being altered I'd lean more towards a spell similar to Merlin's spell during Kairi and Lea's keyblade training but one that that causes the Souls to smell, taste and especially touch (including feeling pain) instead of a alternate version of their world, like what happened with Toy Box.

Not sure what trouble the Foretellers would cause for the Soul world and ANY other Disney world when compared to Young Xehanort's role in Toy Box, or the Real Organization XIII's roles in the other Disney worlds back in KH3.

I'd also envision that this world would follow an original plot similar to Toy Box and Monstropolis instead of a retelling of the film, and it's likely that the original KH story would be a prequel to Soul with Sora wounding up in the Great Before in "You Seminar" where he meets 22 during his journey. On top of that, according to Pixar's description on the character 22, she has been attending the "You Seminar" for a hundred years, and has a dim view of life which would explain why she hasn't been wanting to go to Earth.

But hey 22 would be a great Party member for Sora so she can use her hand to punch and slap some Heartless.

@SweetYetSalty I agree the environment of the Great Before is beautiful and just imagine having 22 as Sora's party member where she can slap several different Heartless around and whatever original story Pixar can come up with Square Enix for a potential world based on Soul.

I'd be surprised to see Soul being among those "recent" films included as a world in the next KH game, because I have been noticing a trend lately that some of the more recent films released by Disney have been included as a world in a future KH game. The film, Tron: Legacy was a perfect example as the film came out in 2010 while Dream Drop Distance was still in development and eventually became a word 2 years after the film came out, perhaps the development team saw that film and decided to add it in at the last minute as a world in DDD which Nomura did confirmed in an interview as they had to rewatch the film when it was in theaters in Japan while designing the Grid level. Even Big Hero 6 got included in Kingdom Hearts III just a year after its movie came out in 2014, but unlike with Tron: Legacy, Disney and/or Roy Conli basically requested Nomura to be added in the game as a world at the last minute.

So it literally it comes down to which Disney and Pixar films would thematically work as worlds in the specific KH game and which ones they want to save for the next game. I highly doubt we will have both Coco and Soul as worlds in the same KH game together given that the both deal with death/afterlife despite both films having different settings and environments.

I just watched FROZEN II and I'm not sure how it will fit in a future KH game. I was unsure how FROZEN would, and we saw how that panned out. I don't even think "Into The Unknown" is good enough to get its own KH remake video (thank goodness), but I would love a KH remake of "Show Yourself" and maybe even have it mean something for Sora as well, instead of him watching Elsa sing and then saying "I don't know what happened, but wow."

I'm only even mentioning FROZEN II because knowing Disney, they will force it into a future KH game (even though I didn't feel it was as iconic as FROZEN). Maybe they'll have Arendelle > The Enchanted Forest > Dark Sea > Ahtohallan, but the locations weren't big enough to explore, especially on KH3's scale... but again, they made one giant mountain of snow work in KH3. I would love a fight on the Dark Sea (with Elsa on the team) against the Water Horse thing.

Anyway, if they do FROZEN II, I just hope Elsa is on the team and we follow her story... the only problem is that thematically, the film is about Elsa finding herself, so having Sora accompany her takes away from that.

Well, I'm sure Disney will definitely want it to be in the next KH game...but so, too, will Square Enix. The Disney properties help sell the game, and Frozen is the most popular animated property Disney owns right now--whether you're talking about WDAS or PIXAR. Frozen II is the highest-grossing animated film of all time, probably to be usurped by Frozen III in the next five years...

Even if we don't get to fight with Elsa, I hope we at least get to fight alongside Anna and Kristoff next time. Perhaps Elsa as a party member can be saved for its third appearance the way Hercules was.

I'd say it will depend on which Disney films they choose in the KH game as worlds cause it comes down to the following factors:

• Which Disney or Pixar films do Nomura and the development team want in the game as worlds.
• Which Disney worlds they want to reuse again for the specific KH game
• The themes that the specific Disney or Pixar film have in common to the theme of the specific KH game (e.g. Friendship, Trust, Connections, Promises, etc.)
• The Story the world can offer
• The gameplay value and environment that the world can offer.
• Variety
• Disney giving Requests and suggestions to which Films they want to see added in the game to Nomura and the team (e.g. Big Hero 6 in KH3)

I expect that the Disney worlds they would utilize for the next KH game before KHIV (DDD v2) could be thematically reminiscent to the Disney worlds we got in Dream Drop Distance where it focuses on some of the lesser known and/or slightly recent Disney films.

Finally Here's a breakdown for the development for the KH games:

• For the first KH game, development started in the year 2000 and ended in late 2001/early 2002 (Jan./Feb. 2002) which means development lasted for 2 years. For Kingdom Hearts II, development started after the release of KH Final Mix in December 2002 and lasted until mid-late 2005 (2 1/2-3 years).
• Not sure how long development for Chain of Memories, Coded, and 358/2 Days took, but I think the former started sometime after the release of the first KH game and before KH2 entered Development.
• Development for Birth By Sleep started since 2005 and lasted until late 2009 (4 years), Dream Drop Distance started since early 2010 following the release of BBS and lasted until late 2011/early 2012 (1 1/2-2 years).
• Finally, Kingdom Hearts III had the most interesting development for a KH game, as development started since late 2012/early 2013 but due to a switch from Square's Luminous engine to the Unreal Engine 4 in October 2014, development for KH3 restarted under the new engine up until November 2018 (5-6 years of KH3 being in development (1-2 years under Luminous; 4.25 years under the Unreal Engine 4).
• Regarding the II.8 Final Chapter Prologue, I'm not sure when development started but I think development for that title started around the same time that KH3 switched into the Unreal Engine 4 (October 2014), even the Graphics from 0.2 Birth By Sleep seems to suggest it was the first KH title that the team were testing on and the graphics for this game looked uncanny when compared to the Unreal Engine graphics of the X Back Cover movie and Kingdom Hearts III.

It wouldn't surprise me if some of the more recent films such as Onward, Soul, and/or the upcoming Jungle Cruise film being among those films included as a world in the next KH game before KHIV, because like I said before have been noticing lately that some of the more recent films released by Disney have been included as a world in a future KH game. I wouldn't get to worried on Frozen II including the plot, and when compared to the other KH3 Disney worlds I'd say this and Toy Box are going to have the likely chance of returning to Kingdom Hearts IV.

As for story it be just like the movie with Sora, Donald and Goofy tagging along have it begin with them arriving to Arendelle for the first time either during the morning or at night, but I'd chose the former, then later at night while they relax and observe at the night sky suddenly they notice the Crystal spirits (Fire, Water, Wind and Earth) that Elsa awakens and also having a few Heartless causing chaos in Arendelle. This is soon followed with Sora, Donald and Goofy rescuing the Villagers and evacuating them from Arendelle similar to SDG saving the townsfolk in Olympus during the Heartless attack in KH3.

Then after the whole ordeal the rest of the movie happens (get advice from Pabbie, head into the Enchanted Forest, meet Mathias and the Northuldra, etc.) with SDG involved with Elsa, Anna and the others until the former separates from them and a few Heartless and Bosses popping up.

As far goes as Elsa being a party member to Sora, I'd say it's very likely. She is no longer the person who's afraid of using her powers when around others like the first film and KH3 as she managed to have better control over her Ice powers by the end of the first film going forward, plus imagine the team limits she can do with Sora when battling enemies, it's similar to how Hercules in KH1 and KH2 wasn't even in Sora's party before he officially became a party member for Sora in KH3. Even Anna could also be a secondary party member as well as she can wield a sword, don't know what else she can do besides using the sword (unless that was in the teaser). However, it could be another Rapunzel situation where by the time the see the ship wreckage and Elsa creates the Ice ramp and Boat for Anna and Olaf as well as SDG it's when she stops joining Sora's party and heads off to Ahtohallan and the rest of it would just be Anna as the sole party member for Sora until the end of the world's story, But who can say.

We don't know if Disney we will put more guidelines for Arendelle's return in Kingdom Hearts IV but I'm optimistic it won't be as restrictive compared to KH3's visit of the world.

Lastly, I do hope that Sora, Donald and Goofy see and witness Bruni the Salamander cause I was disappointed that in Kingdom of Corona they pay little to no attention to Pascal regardless if they saw him twice and just disregarded him. Just imagine if they saw the flame spirit and mistook it for a Heartless (which would be funny btw) was nothing but a little salamander.
