Spoiler ShowDrama of the movie production aside, I went in this movie with a pretty neutral tone. I did not like Emma Watson being cast, but I wasn't entirely against it either.
1. After viewing the film, I can say I am not impressed with her performance at all. Everyone around her is trying to act with her and she is just so...unresponsive. This Belle was too quiet in most scenes and her body language was completely boring. All the other characters in this movie seem to be having fun but here comes Emma with this stink face on and no drive to be a part of anything. It was disappointing to witness and made it hard for me to root for Belle in almost every scene. For example, when Belle is running up the hill to sing her reprise in the beginning, she just...stands there. In the animated version, Belle uses her arms to express her need to leave and go on adventures. Emma did none of that. It's literally her just standing on a hill trying to look like she's singing the song. You can tell when she gets angry though, because she really goes over the top with that (it’s a little annoying in my opinion, wish she could have balanced her emotions better). She gets a bit more backstory too and even though we find out what happened to her mother, we don’t really see Belle reflecting on that after that.
2. I thought the Beast was great. I knew very little of Dan Stevens before but I warmed up to him quickly and enjoyed his character immensely. Some of the things they added were enjoyable, such as mentioning his obsession with "all things beautiful" and even wearing make-up along with his princely attire, but then it never gets mentioned again in the film. There's no personal reflection about why he liked pretty things or why he was so obsessed with it. There's a small scene that goes into his back story about being abused by his father but it's just kind of thrown in so we can understand why the staff still wanted to take care of him even though he was so spoiled.
But overall he's my bratty metro-sexual prince and I love him xD
3. Gaston was good, I liked his backstory and how they made him a war-hero. It made it more plausible for the towns folk to love him and listen to him, especially in the end when he convinces them to go after Beast. Lefou was great, and he is obviously gay as he openly flirts with Gaston. I understand the outbreak for the lack of proper representation, and I am not a gay man (Pansexual Female), but Lefou was not just a sheep for the entire film. He questions Gaston's actions a lot and even fights against him + his team in the end, and he gets to dance with a man for like half a second lol.
4. There is one slightly transphobic joke that shows up during the battle, but I guess it depends on how you look at it. It's one of those "haha dress up the bad guys in dresses to scare them off" tropes, and one of the men (Lefou's dance partner) enjoys the dress and smiles.
5. The dress is awful. I could see the plastic tinsel on the bodice from a mile away. It did move nicely in the ballroom scene though.
6. The objects were a little creepy, but I liked their personalities and what the actors did with them. Lumiere was my favorite and I love Ewan Mcgregor! Audra Mcdonald was a goddess, and Stanley Tucci was so funny as the organ. I almost thought they were gonna do an easter egg about the organ from the Christmas special, but I didn’t see anything. He is a little creepy as a talking organ though.
7. I did not like the whole Mr. Potts thing, but it was interesting to see it foreshadowed by Belle in the beginning when she asked, “have you lost anything?†and he responds with, “I don’t rememberâ€. Also, the cogsworth wife thing just made me mad. I don't know why they bothered with that.
8. THE ENCHANTRESS was awesome. I liked how she was this mysterious enigma that everyone just passed off as the local homeless widower, yet had this much power. I think she only has one line in the film, but I liked the way she moved through the castle during the final battle to go collect the rose. A lot of people didn’t like that Belle could break the spell after the last petal fell, but I think it was nice to see how much power Agatha had. It’s her spell, she can do what she wants with it.
9. The scenery and atmosphere in this movie is great. I could really feel like I was in the castle. The cgi was not bad, and even the motion capture on Beast wasn’t too distracting. I’d say in comparison to a lot of motion capture faces, it was pretty darn good.
10. The synthesized growl at the end. I was like “O_____O†at first but grew to like it haha. It was cute to see Beast be flirtatious like that but then it made me think that he must still have Beast traits or something. There is also a part where Lumiere’s hair lights up on fire despite being human so it’s a little confusing. Oh and of course Belle didn’t react to that at all like..can you tell I’m done with Emma’s lack of acting by the end or what? Lolololol
To wrap it up, does this movie have problems? Yes, a lot. Some are more jarring than others, and it’s hard when you can even relate to the main character. In the end, though, I do love this film, and would definitely watch it again!
I really loved this. Of course it isn't better than the original, but none of the re-makes will be better than the originals, imo.

I have always discussed with friends and i heard from Disney Artists that Jungle Book is considered one of Disney best films not because of the story, but because of the characters. Without the characters, its basically straight path to the end. Which is the changes in that movie were for the better. Of course Beauty and the Beast is different cause the plot is the backbone to the film.
For those of you who has seen the movie... You say it's good, but how good is it compared to the original?
Spoiler ShowI liked it quite a bit. Compared to the originals, there's stuff that's better and stuff that's worse. They added a couple of things, and some of them worked; Gaston is more sinister in this one, Maurice is a much more fleshed out and likable character with an actual backstory, the Beast has a new original song, "Evermore", that made my girlfriend cry in the theater, Le Fou is more likable and better written this time around (of course he was into Gaston, people), and the "How Does a Moment Last Forever?" song is really sweet and sentimental. However, there is bad; the singing for Mrs. Potts definitely does not live up to Angela Lansbury's version, the extended cuts of the original songs aren't very well composed, with tons of awkward pauses, "Days in the Sun" is a terrible song with a terrible plot point that never gets brought up again, and, worst of all, Emma Watson spoils the entire movie. She is such an uninteresting actor and garbage singer that it makes everything else I enjoyed, like Dan Steven's performance, a slog to get through once she entered the scene. I swear, she didn't show a real human emotion until she was cupping a hot guy's face at the end of the movie, and her singing... oh God. They must have spread the icing on her autotune cake with a fucking greatsword, because holy shit, it's everywhere. She's terrible as a singer, I'm never going to go to a movie where she's singing ever again.
If they somehow got the original actor for Belle to come back and kept Dan Stevens as the Beast, then it would have been a great adaptation of the original. Also, this story doesn't go anywhere the first didn't go already; while they add a couple of little story beats here and there, the plot is pretty much the exact same, so don't go in expecting much as all.
Overall, 7.5/10. Would have been a lot higher, but Emma Watson destroyed it for me.
