This is a theory I've been thinking about for a while. It's a pretty short and simple one.
Anyways, I'm starting to think that the essence of darkness itself is the main villain of the KH series. Why do I think this?
Example 1 - Master Xehanort:
MX originally had good intentions when it came to Kingdom Hearts. He just wanted knowledge. He didn't plan on hurting anybody, he didn't plan on destroying worlds and causing galactic chaos. But notice how after Master Xehanort learns about the Darkness, his motives start to become a little more...eviler. His appearance begins to change..and eventually he hurts the man he considered his younger brother by using the power of darkness. He almost destroys his pupil's heart. He kills his "younger brother". He takes over Terra's body.
How did all of this stem from wanting knowledge? I believe that Master Xehanort himself did not warp his plans, but the darkness did.
Example 2 - Xehanort:
Xehanort started off from being a curious genius to becoming a power crazed psychopath. But Xehanort's warped intentions started after he became involved with the darkness. Darkness began to make him desire more things. Eventually he decided using Kingdom Hearts to control everything in the universe would be a good idea.
Those are all of the example I am going to use for now, since I am lazy. Anyways, the main point behind all of this is that I believe the force of darkness itself influenced both Master Xehanort's and Apprentice Xehanort's plans, making the both of them merely victims of being possessed. Both of them had good intentions, but the darkness warped their minds. The darkness is the cause of all destruction, of all mayhem, of all malice in Kingdom Hearts. It is the main villain.
Thoughts?
